The World of Internet
Can the place with many friends, with a lot of interesting news, where I can find a lot of sensational information do me harm? Can the place containing all the works of art, grand libraries, music, movies, thrilling games do me harm? Surely, not. Will I love this place? No doubt, I will. Will I aspire to visit this place as often as possible? Yes, I will want to come there again and again. Why then everyone gets agitated and worried, if this place is called Internet? What does it change? Internet is a whole world, where your dreams come true, where there are no borders between countries and continents, where you need neither a visa, no passport. I love this world. I got used to it and I miss when I am without it. And it is natural to aspire to everything what is dear to me.

“The fourth anniversary of the No Child Left Behind Act, signed into law by President Bush on January 8, 2002, is a time to boldly look ahead, confident that we can solve any educational challenge we face. Four years ago our nation said it would no longer accept a public school system that educated only a portion of its children. Americans said schools should be held accountable for results and students should learn through proven methods. Parents were given more choices, states more flexibility and schools 40 percent more resources.

This will be achieved by new regulations which will see anyone who is convicted or cautioned for a sexual offence against a child is automatically placed on List 99 - the list used to stop individuals working in schools. Other serious sexual offences committed against adults will also see individuals placed on the list, although they will have the right to appeal. In February the Government will introduce new legislation which will go further and bring together List 99 and the Protection of Children Act List into a single register of those barred from working with children.

NASA Summer Research Experience for Tribal College and University Students and Faculty
The American Indian Higher Education Consortium is working with NASA to recruit at least 40 Tribal College and University students and faculty to participate in 10-week summer research experience projects. This is the first NASA agency-wide summer research program for students from the Tribal Colleges and Universities. Research activities may continue throughout the academic year, and all participants will be required to share information about their projects with other Tribal Colleges and Universities and K-12 students from their local communities. Institutional project teams should consist of either one Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics faculty member and at least one student majoring in a STEM discipline; or two or more students majoring in STEM disciplines.

NASA is currently developing the Science and Technology Scholarship Program (STSP). This scholarship-for-service program will provide both scholarship and internship opportunities to undergraduate students pursuing degrees in engineering, mathematics, computer science, and physical/life sciences. This competitive program seeks students who excel in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) to compete for a full scholarship of up to $20,000 per year - in exchange for a commitment to work full-time at a NASA Center or one of its affiliates upon graduation. Additional stipend support of up to $10,000 per year will be provided to support a required internship or research experience at a NASA Center or Affiliate.

New Plans to improve Offender Learning
The Government is publishing a green paper on training and skills for prisoners. It sets out how the Government plans to transform the skills and employment prospects of prisoners when they leave jail.
